Back in the Saddle

Photos & text copyright Yasir Khan 2008

Around the end of our first week in Canada (back in July), Suf & I turned to each other as we sat by the water.

"Do you want to go back early?"

She'd read my mind. We were already missing Cairo like mad.

I stayed away from Khanundrum on purpose. We've been in Canada for the last few weeks, and I thought I should give the blog a break - not that we had much time to write anyway.

Our time here's been filled with silence, clean air, parking tickets, weddings, people, kids (who might be people), concerts and airplanes (let's see... at one point or another, one or both of us were in Saint John, St. Andrews, Halifax, Montreal, Toronto, Brampton, Missisauga, Erin, Saskatoon, and NYC).

We loved every single one of those places (well, except for Mississauga). But none of them are the crowded, noisy, polluted, ugly, wonderful city that we now call home, and have come to love.

"Yeah!" I said. "Let's go back early."

Hey! I hate Mississauga too, but you have to respect it a bit as that is where I and many of your other fans call home!

Good to see you back. I haven't been updating my blog since being in North America, either, although reading about the fire at the Shoura and various reactions to it has gotten me inspired. Do give us some on-location impressions if you get a chance.

Rockstar... I would hate mississauga even more if it wasn't for you guys. Liked Brampton because it's pretty close to farmland :)

Will & Fhar - we're not there yet, so I know nothing of the move or the fire, except that they both happened (or are happening?). Will write more next week once we're there.

you want farmland?! I'll give you farmland! Yaar, Suf and you got to come to Leiden and the netherlands. The whole bloody country is farmland. Seriously, dude, I have a big spacious apartment, and you gotta see this beautiful town. I'd love to see you guys. Hell, I'd love to see any familiar brown face here.
